Non-reagent iron removal filters, aeration

Non-reagent iron removal filters are designed to remove from the water:

  • iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide;
  • durbidity and chromaticity;
  • three valent iron, suspended iron, sand, sludge.

The unit consists of a filter housing, made of fiberglass, but inside it is laminated polyethylene, automatic control valve, filtering environment, supporting layer of gravel, drainage and distribution system. Pre-aeration, ozonation and chlorination are used to improve the efficiency of non-reagent systems.

Filtering materials - BIRM, Pyrolox.

Birm - an efficient and economical media for the reduction of dissolved iron and manganese compounds from raw water supplies. It may be used in either gravity fed or pressurized water treatment systems. The physical characteristics of Birm provide an excellent filter media which is easily cleaned by backwashing to remove the precipitant. Birm is not consumed in the iron removal operation and therefore offers a tremendous economic advantage over many other iron removal methods.

Pyrolox - material for iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide removal.

Pyrolox
Pyrolox® is a granular water filtration media used for the removal of hydrogen sulfide, iron and manganese. A naturally mined ore, Pyrolox has been used in water treatment for more than 75 years. Pyrolox cn be used in combination with aeration, chlorination, ozonation and other additional treatment methods, if initial water contains high concentration of contaminants. Chlorine and other oxidants acceerate catalysis reaction.

476/5000
Pyrolox operates on the following principle: hydrogen sulfide, iron and manganese are oxidized and retained in the media and subsequently are removed while backwash. The use of additional chemicals in the regeneration is not required. Pyrolox media is a very durable material and none of the substances from the media can't get into the drinking water. Pyrolox has a large capacity and successfully maintains a very low concentration of pollutants in the treated water.

It is important that Pyrolox media is backwashed properly to ensure adequate bed expansion and continued service life.

Pyrolox advantages:

  • Effective reduction of iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide.
  • Durable media with long service life.
  • Does not require the use of additional chemicals in regeneration, only periodic backwashing.
